Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference kicks off Monday and according to Financial Times, Apple plans to introduce a cheaper version of its popular iPhone as soon as Monday, in a move that could dramatically increase the company’s share of the smart phone market.

Analysts said that the company is likely to introduce either a $149 phone or a $99 phone, down from the current low end of $199.

Citing a firm survey of consumers, Morgan Stanley analyst Kathryn Huberty said that a $50 price cut could increase demand for the phone by 50% and a $100 cut by 100%.

Apple sells about 11% of the world’s smart phones, trailing Nokia at 41% and Research in Motion (Blackberry) at 20%, according to Gartner figures from the first quarter.

Okay, so I recently got an iPhone, right? Well, one of the things I hate about it is its constant need to connect to the Internet. Now this won’t be a problem for those who are on unlimited data plan but it would be a pain in the a** for those on Pay as you go, ESPECIALLY those who are in other countries and are on a roaming plan.

So what should you do to make sure that your iPhone doesn’t connect to any cellular data network? Well first, you should turn off any push notifications. You can do that by going to settings, “mail, contacts, and calendar”, fetch new data, and then turning it off.

But in order to be REALLY, REALLY, sure, just put a different apn on your cellular data network. You can do this by going to settings, general settings, network, and cellular data network. Just add another letter to the default apn and your iPhone shouldn’t connect to your carrier’s servers and use up data.

The iKeyboard by XSKN, a keyboard manufactured specifically for iPhone has been launched and it rocks. Coloured in pale white, and comes with keys that have logos on them like eBay, Facebook, Skype amongst others is more than handy, and trendy.

In fact, this keyboard is not on the Apple approved list, instead, it is hack that is likely to make the iPhone manufacturer go bonkers in search of a valid keyboard.

It’s not really a secret that Japan is absolutely crazy about cell phones. And even though domestic makers churn out more than 100 different handsets every year (some of which are simply amazing), the iPhone is selling over here. SoftBank Mobile, the country’s exclusive iPhone provider, doesn’t release official data, but estimates put sales in Japan at well over one million units so far – not bad at all in this hopelessly over-saturated market. In other words, Japan doesn’t hate the iPhone, as some blogs suggested in the past. It never did.

The local developer community has noticed and produced a slew of apps aimed at a global audience. What follows is my subjective selection of the “best” of these made-in-Japan apps, all of which are at least available in English. (I left out iPhone games released by big companies such as Capcom, Konami, Sega or Namco to focus on apps created by startups or individuals based in Japan instead.)

My personal favorite is a free (and fantastic) GPS-based photo sharing app called Memory Tree (just like all the apps in the following list, it works worldwide). But here’s a round-up of all the 32 apps I chose, grouped in six categories (games, productivity, tools, photography and art, music, and everything else).
